About

When the ancient Egyptians made mummies, the important last step was wrapping the body in layers and layers of linen. Now, be careful because the word “linen” is used loosely today to mean any plain weave fabric that looks like flax linen, same as we use “Xerox” to mean any copy. Most “linen” today is actually polyester or another plastic. The Egyptians used what we use, linen fiber from the flax plant.

Flax linen is, as the Egyptians know, incredibly strong and long lasting.

Eco Facts

Oeko-Tex 100 is your assurance that the fabric contains no residuals of concern. Now, Oeko-Tex 100 has had some incredibly stupid failings in the past. It did not prohibit PFAs and PFOAs until May, 2023. We are not aware of any current such failing. An Oeko-Tex 100 certified fabric is safe to use. Now, its production could have been, and in the vast majority of cases is, an eco-disaster. So, when e can only get the Oeko-Tex 100 certification for a fabric, we still use the strict guidelines of the Global Organic Textile Standard for our production. We have thorough water treatment at each step of the production process for all of our Oeko-Tex 100 certified fabrics, for instance - a requirement NOT required by Oeko-Tex-100. We are trying to get the GOTS certification for all of our fabrics (We have it on a little over half right now); but it is expensive for everyone in the chain of supply, and the cost is just not warranted by demand right now. Demand GOTS for all of everything you buy that is made of fabric!
