About

Methow 3 is a sumptuous velvet. And yet, a great choice for “kids and pets” upholstery projects where you need a hard-working fabric that pet claws cannot catch on. Also great for poufs and pillows and most any application needing a heavyweight super plush velvet.

Eco Facts

The goal of the OekoTex 100 fabric safety standard (www.oeko-tex.com) is to ensure that products pose no risk to human health, or to any living thing.

The October 25, 2008 edition of the Seattle Post Intelligencer lamented the demise, in just one year, of seven of the 83 Orca Whales still migrating to the Puget Sound. Two of the seven were child bearing age females, a class with normally extremely low mortality.  Scientists speculate, that, in part, the whales are dyeing because they are starving and, when they rely on their own blubber, industrial chemicals stored in their blubber become available to them in toxic doses.  Many of the chemicals in the blubber are the same toxic chemicals used routinely in textile production.  Not in ours.

Your fabric purchases can be a force for good.

Specifications

  • abrasion test results: 100,000 Martindale
  • care: Methow 3 does not shrink in any temperature and is washable in any temperature. Iron on reverse; or steam either side. Use a very hot iron. If washing and/or drying, use cool temps to preserve color and energy.
  • certification: Oeko-Tex 100
  • content: 100% cotton pile. Warp is 72% cotton; 16% Tencel; 12% Recycled PET
  • directionality:

Non directional, but with velvet there is the issue of pile up or pile down.

For upholstery we recommend pile down.

For draperies we recommend pile up if the richness of the color is desired, although pile down is fine as long as all of the fabric is oriented the same direction. Roman shades, though, should be produced using pile up only in most designs.

For all applications, it is very important that whichever orientation is chosen – pile up or pile down – that all panels be oriented the same way.

  • weight:

    16 oz yd2 / 542gm m2
